![]() Play Works Campaign for Kids a Success!![]() Thanks to the generous support of 530 individuals, businesses and foundations, Providence Children’s Museum surpassed its $1.5 million Play Works Campaign for Kids goal, meeting a $150,000 challenge from the prestigious Kresge Foundation and raising over $1.8 million for capital projects and the Museum’s future. With the campaign’s success, the Museum opened three major new play and learning environments – Play Power in fall 2008 and The Climber and Underland in June – completed important building restoration, and seeded an endowment fund. These additions position the Museum to serve an ever-growing number of children and families from across the region with rich opportunities for imaginative unstructured play; expand its outreach to underserved audiences and families at risk; and continue to educate parents and caregivers about the ways children learn and about the importance of unstructured play for children’s healthy development. Providence Children’s Museum is deeply grateful to all of the Play Works Campaign volunteers and donors for recognizing and supporting the critical importance of children’s play and the Museum’s role as an essential community resource.
