Pulleys and Gears

Kids investigate simple machines and moving parts in Discovery Studio, the Museum’s open-ended art and science exploration space. Tighten screws using real tools, lift weights with pulleys, and create a network of gears.
MetLife Family Friday - Free at Five!

The Museum is open free every Friday evening June through Labor Day from 5:00 - 8:00 PM for “MetLife Family Friday – Free at Five!,” sponsored by MetLife Foundation. Stay out late and splash, play, explore and discover!
Summer Reading Kick-Off
5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Start off a summer of reading with a special celebration at Providence Children’s Museum. Ten children’s book authors and illustrators – Linda Crotta Brennan, Anika Denise, Chris Denise, Terry Golson, Kara LaReau, Peter Mandel, Jamie Michalak, Kelly Murphy, Ammi-Joan Paquette and Alison Paul – will read their stories aloud, answer questions, and sign and sell their books. Local children’s librarians will offer engaging book-related activities and recommended booklists. Find out how the whole family can participate in Rhode Island's 2012 Summer Reading Program at public libraries statewide! Recommended for ages 4 to 10.
