Learning
by doing... Getting things done.
The mission of the AmeriCorps program at the Museum is to instill a
lifetime love of learning in children - especially those whose exposure
to rich educational experiences is limited. Across the country
AmeriCorps members are getting things done through service in exchange
for help in financing their educations.
The
Museum AmeriCorps team is group of dynamic and diverse individuals who,
in conjunction with Museum staff, create and implement programs with
Head Start and implement Learning Clubs in community centers and
coordinate volunteers working at the Museum.
Members have a strong commitment to hands-on learning and experience
and/or training in child development. In return for their year of
service, members receive benefits, including living allowance, health
insurance, child care allowances, an educational grant and more.
