More about Pets
& People
Caring for a wisely chosen pet helps children become responsible and learn
to be kind to all creatures. Created and maintained by Providence Animal Rescue
League, Pets & People presents families with the information they
need to decide on the best pet for them. Children don veterinarian coats to
give a toy kitty a check up and animal costumes to explore the rabbit hutch
and birdcage. Acting out animal stories in the puppet theater and reading
about the needs of various pets, families consider the joys and responsibilities
of adopting a "friend for life." A book nook contains fact and fiction
about animals and pet care as well as take-home material on adopting a pet.
Pets & People is recommended for children age 3 to 8 and
their adult friends for maximum interest. Volunteer educators from
Providence Animal Rescue League are on hand to encourage fun and learning.
