Providence Children’s Museum
Nets $40,000 at Annual Golf Tournament

On August 1, 120 golfers took part in the 28th Annual Allen H. Chatterton Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament at the world-famous Carnegie Abbey Club in Portsmouth.  The tournament netted $40,000 to benefit the Museum’s hands-on exhibits and innovative educational programs.

The day’s winners included: low gross team – Jack Anderson and team from Insurance Reconstruction Services; low net team – Kevin Higgins and team from Ernst & Young LLP; individual low net – Brendan Voss; and individual low gross – Mike Pedro.

At the evening’s dinner, guests bid $7,600 on exciting live auction items including a weekend getaway and rounds of golf at exclusive courses.  A raffle and contest holes around the course fetched an additional $5,280.  The foursome of Handy & McDermott won a round at Carnegie Abbey Club in a special contest sponsored by Chatterton Insurance, Inc.

Providence Children’s Museum’s annual golf tournament was instituted in 1983 by the late Allen H. Chatterton Jr., an early supporter and board member of the Children’s Museum.  The Museum gratefully acknowledges Allen H. Chatterton III, who chaired the tournament for the 22nd consecutive year in memory of his father, and major event sponsors Admirals Bank, Neighborhood Health Plan of RI and Nortek Inc.

The Museum also thanks the tournament committee and the following sponsors: Amtrol, Inc.; Cardi Corporation; Dimeo Construction Company; Polly Chatterton Handy & Ned Handy and Hope & Shaw McDermott; Ken Carbone; Chatterton Insurance, Inc.; Coastway Community Bank; Collette Vacations; Cox Communications; Delta Dental; Ernst & Young LLP; GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc.; Hayes & Sherry Real Estate Services; HSNO Accounting; Insurance Reconstruction Services, Inc.; Narragansett Bay Insurance; NewportFed; Carol A.
